Mother
I am proud to share motherhood with my wife Heather Cohn as we raise our daughter, Mercena West Schulenburg. I write about my experiences to normalize and celebrate queer families and trans motherhood.

How Can We Work Together?
Make Theatre
I love writing for and devising with ensembles. I’m also looking for acting projects where trans women are portrayed in our full and complex humanity, and directing projects at the intersections of activism and aesthetic experimentation.
Make Change
I have extensive experience in communications and facilitation, and I love to use those skills in service of arts and social justice organizations with whom I share values.
Make Words
In addition to my long experience as a playwright, I am also a novelist, poet, essayist, and all-around word-slinger. From hour-long presentations to tweets to everything in-between, I can help you find the words.

Testimonials
What People Say
“I have come to the conclusion that Schulenburg is a writer of extraordinary compassion. Like Walt Whitman, [she] contains multitudes, and also like Whitman, [she] loves them all. Add to this [her] eloquence, intelligence, and unique point of view, and you have a truly original, top-level playwright who’s funny as hell.
Wendy Caster, Show Showdown
“Schulenburg has honed [her] skill at writing dialogue that skates at the crossroads of naturalism and poetry.”
