Desk Man

(Why am I naming days?)
8/4/14, Day, 13,971: Papa’s Got A Brand New Desk & We’re Waiting for our Man

With loving nods to both the Godfather of Soul and the Man Who Launched Thirty Thousand Bands, this day is so named for my sixth desk move at TCG (I wonder is that some kind of record?) and Flux’s ongoing audition process to cast the role of MAN in Once Upon A Bride There Was A Forest.  Both went well (great view, and several strong actors) and I’m starting to pull out of the overwhelmed feeling of the past few weeks in spite of still being sick. Part of the good feelings may be that I’ve begun plotting out a new play (set on a spaceship, natch). I also had a great meeting with the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative team at TCG, and made big strides in pulling together Flux’s next Have Another.

Technique never stands still: it only advances or retreats…

What small things did I do yesterday to help build the Honeycomb?
(And what does it mean to “Help build the honeycomb?”)

  • Asked the EPA to require fracking companies to disclose the chemicals they use underground;
  • Ate organic, local (CSA) vegetarian food and added no additional food waste;
  • Petitioned the governments of Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco to protect women from sexual violence and close the loopholes that let rapists go free;
  • Asked Walgreens to keep paying taxes for the country they operate in and cancel their planned tax-dodging merger with Swiss company Alliance Boots.
